Home > Writing > THE RETREAT #2: SLAUGHTERHOUSE Released!

The Retreat #2: Slaughterhouse by Craig DiLouie, Joe McKinney, and myself is now available on Amazon, albeit without a cover–there’s a technical glitch holding it up, but I’ve attached the final below for all to behold. This will remain on Amazon solely for the next three months or so, and then it will spread out to other markets.

Find it here:

And the cover by Jeroen ten Berge is right here…

Weird. I just re-read installment one on 5/4 and wondered when the next one was coming out. Only to find this release update posted 5/3. Strange how that happens! For people not familiar with the Retreat series, it is a fun and easy tale with a writing style above average for the Pandemic-Warfare style “zombie” (not actual zombies, but humans with their identity and individualism controlled via an infection that presents with hyper-aggression). Definitely worth a download from Amazon. Thanks!

I will be heading over to Amazon to download the e-book. Wow, it was a little time between books, but with three authors I’m sure there are logistics to overcome. By the say Stephen, where does the Immolation series stand? Looking forward to it.

Fred, Immolation is in the works right now. The first book is about half completed, but it’s in cruise mode!

I’ve been reading quite a bit of zombie fiction lately and was thinking about purchasing this book. I opened the Adobe file on the Amazon page to look at the first few paragraphs and read this, “Boston was took it’s final bow”. The second paragraph is a sentence fragment, “A wilderness born from laughing insanity.” There’s nothing that kills the enjoyment of a book faster than terrible grammar errors. If that’s the way it begins, there’s probably a lot more buried throughout the story. Reading an excerpt should make me crave more, not put my checkbook away. I’m sorry but I will not be buying this title.

Wow, that’s embarrassing. I fixed the “was took” and sent it to the formatter, so it’ll be replaced by tomorrow. No dice on the fragment though, it’s a stylistic choice.

Sorry it dissuaded you from checking it out, but thanks for pointing out the error of my ways. 🙂

when will the next book of this series be released?

Joe McKinney is working on it now, but I think I’m done trying to pick release dates. When it’s finished in at least first draft form, we’ll have a better idea.
