More Than Just An Annoyance

And I’m not talking about me!

I’ve paid a goodly amount of money–as in thousands of dollars–to have City of the Damned and The Gathering Dead professionally edited by folks who work in the industry and have references and attestations that are miles long. I thought I’d done my due diligence and covered all the bases, and reviewed the edited manuscripts as carefully as I could, but alas–all was not well in Mudville after all.

Readers of both books have written to me about numerous errors in the manuscripts.

Sometimes, you just can’t win for trying.

Hi Stephen, don’t feel too bad about it. I spent $1,400 on the 7 volume New Cambridge Medieval History. My wife had very strong views on the purchase as she thought the money would be better spent on things such as Mortgages etc (the woman has absolutely no sense of priorities). She then sat down to read a little and found a typographical on page 4 of Volume 1. Editing seems to be very hard.
