A Time of Trial
Even though this itty, bitty corner of cyberspace isn’t really reserved for coverage of current events, it seems heartless of me not to give another shout out to the fair folks of Japan, who are going through more than a tiny bit of pain and suffering right now.
My good pal Catherine Ling has some great links on her post over at Camemberu. I hope you’ll take the time to click some of them; I did, and am now fiscally poorer for it, but perhaps morally enriched.
For myself, I’ve heard from a good 80% of my friends in Japan, and all who have reported in are well. The remainder will doubtless get in touch when they can, but in the meantime, the waiting and watching is stressful. Hopefully those of you with friends and family in the Home Islands are doing well, and tragedy has not tapped you on the shoulder.
I’m heartened by the fact that the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard are surging into the zone and doing what they can. Boys and girls in uniform, you continue to impress, and there are none better than you. Keep at it.
